There's a comany located in Mississauga Ontario, that sells notebook computers with Linux installed. Not only that, they reduce the price of any computer sold without Windows installed. Their URL is: http://www.angelcomputer.com/ The only connection I have with them, is they're located just a few blocks from my home.

Hi Everybody, so I'll go straight to the point lol, I have sound problems with my laptop, the sound card is a realtek high definition audio and I run vista 32 bit.
I've never had this kind of problem with sound before everything worked fine (for more than a year), the drivers are installed and windows says everything is good (though I don't have any sound) but all the sound realted applications didn't detect an audio device.
I tried to re-install drivers, update them.... not.... read more

Hello,I'm using Linux actively for about half a year now, using Gentoo on my server and Kubuntu on my desktop. One thing I could never really understand is the whole disk error checking thing.
While Kubuntu automatically checks my hard drives for errors (and repairs them, if found) after an outage for example, I'm not sure about if Gentoo does it too.
Anyway, I read that error checking on Linux is done by running e2fsck for ext2/3 partitions (I'm using ext3). So I ran that on my Gent.... read more

When I installed a network card, I had trouble with it, resulting in meswitching it around PCI slots to make it work.
The end result is that there are 4 copies of the same driver (Ethernet Card#2 - Packet Scheduler Miniport), but when I right-click one and chooseuninstall, I get This device may be required for the computer to bootmessage, and so I cannot uninstall it. Is there anyway to bypass this, asit is slowing my computer up when starting.
ThanksGraeme

Is there a way in iptables to create the same effect as Linksys's porttriggering? What port triggering does is allows you to forward new iptraffic into a specific private ip (just like port forwarding), but if Iinitiate a service from a new internal ip on the same port, the firewallremembers that it came from me and redirects the packets coming back to mysecond pc.
For instance, I have an iptables firewall (thanks to ya'lls help) setupprotecting my home network. Behind the firewall (.... read more

Hello! I just got my first Amiga in 10 years, and the only Amiga 1000 I've had. Unfortunately, it did not come with Kickstart and WorkBench. If anyone can spare a set of KS 1.3 and WB 1.3 I'd be greatly appreciative.
Thanks! You can email me at payton (at) payton byrd (dot) com.

I am maintaining an old system. One stupid SQL statement used an INlist to select some records and relies on the output order, but itdoes not use an order by clause! It worked with the RBO. However, ifCBO is used, the order is different and cause program error. I don'twant to modify the source code. (I understand that the RBO is dying butthe system is dying too, so don't worry about this) Therefore, I amtrying to create a stored outline. I did something like: alter session set optimizer.... read more

Hi All, From what version(s) of RISC OS will Wimp_TextOp with R0=3 work? It's not mentioned in my PRMs, but the StrongHelp manuals say it should be from version 4.00 (which I take to include 5.00). However, I've just received a bug report which seems to indicate (Bad reason code) that it doesn't work on RISC OS 4.02 :-( Any ideas? I've bought a cd that I want to make a backup copy of but k3b complains saying: Problem while reading. Retrying from sector 768.
XCDRoast has a similar problem. Is this actually a bad cd (it runs ok) or is it copy protected. What's the best way to make a backup? Thanks Lionel.

I am hoping to stop kazaa from being used on my network.
