We have a PC running Windows XP in a Domain environment, and it has all its updates. This user needs access to 5 folders on the server, and has drive mappings to them using v,w,x,y,and z. What's been happening on this machine is phantom mapped drives are filling up the available spaces in between... g-u, typically they are pointing to the same shared folder, they'll display as being 'disconnected' (and thus unremovable); though the folder is accessible. I had recreated the profil.... read more

Just finding my way around my SuSE 9 system. New to Linux.
I have installed and set to run SSH. If I type SSH in a terminal window onthe Linux box it allows me to connect. If I use Putty on an XP box and tryto connect to the Linux box it asks for my name and password and then tellsme my password is incorrect and access is denied.
Any pointers?

I have several years of experience with PHP and Javascript, but havedecided to expand into Java, and JEE specifically (though JME and JSEalso beckon in the future). Many OOP features from PHP and Javascriptare very familiar to me and syntactically Java does not appear to becompletely foreign.
For this purpose I need a book that is not overly basic. But I'verealised getting a book on JSP right away would be a bad move, even ifit were one directed at novices.
Effective Java (2nd edition) seems.... read more

Both share a Mutex --> Mx T_low has acquired the Mx and now T_High is Ready and tries to takeMx....(and blocks) Now.....
Priority = 255; And since T_Low is FIFO scheduled it will block all other threads atpriority 255 !!! is it Priority Inversion at its best!!! Way out: Never have a low priority thread .... read more

Is it allowed to use double precision operations inside vector handlers in modules which are written in C? I am using FPEmulator_ChangeContext to save the actual context of the FPE at the entry of of the vector handler and replace it by an own context. At the end I am restoring the context with the same function.
However inside Castles C/C++ Docs there is a note about the FPE which says This rules out the use of floating point via the C compiler.
But the part above relates to RISC OS Versions pr.... read more
