Easiest way to back-up an unexpanded A1200?

Hi all, I have a problem, and I wondered if anyone could offer anysuggestions. I have an old A1200 with an 80 meg harddrive full of oldwork (source code and graphics mostly) that I don't want to lose whenthe harddrive eventaully dies. What's the easiest way of getting thesefiles off without loosing any data (ie filenames being converted intoancient MSDOS 8+3 format)? Should I connect a serial/parrallel cableto it and copy them off using some sort of network type solution, ortake the 2.5 IDE harddrive out and put it in a PC? I have access tonumerous Linux and Windows boxes.

Also, I'm sure there's a way of getting Linux to understand Amigafilesystems (can't remember which filesystem my A1200's using -presumably the standard one), but are there any distros that willunderstand Amiga filesystems out of the box, or will I have to messaround with it? I'm sure there's loads of ways of getting this data off - I'm justlooking for the easiest and cheapest way...

Cheers

17/08/2017 12:57 - plug it into the pc, start winuae, select the hard drive there, create ahard file, set the hardfile as (for example) dh1 and just use somediskcopyprogram to transfer the whole harddrive to the hardfilesimple as that :>www.winuae.net or http://fakkah.no-ip.org/ NickWKG <nickwkg@my-deja.com> skrev i meddelandetnews:a1bef89c.0308220419.58ce2ed2@posting.google.com...
