Veritas Question

I know that this list is only for Solaris OS questions. But I know there many ppl on this list who use Veritas 4.0, Solaris 9.

Need to implement as soon as possible, no time to read the complete Veritas VM manual and figure it out.

I just created a new domain on 12K. Installed Solaris 9 + Veritas VM/FS 4.0.

Able to see the 6 LUNs from a T3+ array. I need to create a striped volume for an oracle database filesystem.

vxdisk list DEVICE DISK GROUP STATUS T30_0 - - online T30_1 t3b0l2 ums1d-dg1 online 44GB T30_2 t3b0l4 ums1d-dg1 online 7GB T30_3 - - online T30_4 - - online T30_5 t3b0l3 ums1d-dg1 online 44GB T30_6 t3b0l5 ums1d-dg1 online 7GB T30_7 - - online T31_0 - - online T31_1 t3b1l2 ums1d-dg1 online 44GB T31_2 - - online T31_3 - - online T31_4 t3b1l3 ums1d-dg1 online 44GB T31_5 - - online ------- 190GB I need to created a striped volume of 190GB. and then partition this single volume into 4 soft partitions.

/opt/psoft 30GB /oracle/data 100GB /oracle/index 30GB /oracle/redologa remaining free space..

How do I complete this?.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Vinay

I'm pretty sure the T3 already does hardware mirrioring and raid so unless you need the added performance if any I would just put the all the luns in one disk group and cave out my volumes.

if you have all the disks in the same diskgroup IIRC you can do something like vxassist -g oradg make u01 30m layout=raid5 -- Rodrick R. Brown The City of New York (DoITT) rbrown[@]doitt.nyc.gov -- Rodrick R. Brown The City of New York (DoITT) rbrown[@]doitt.nyc.gov
