Missing file, not deleted.

I downloaded a file that was approx 4 GB in size. It's path was supposed to be c:Documents and Settingsfuture(my user name)Local SettingsTemporary Internet Files. When I went to find the file, it was not there. At first I couldn't find the folder, but I changed my folder options to view hidden files/folders, and unhide protected operating system files, and found it. But the file is not there. The properties of this folder tell me that the folder is 4.46 GB in size, but the contents barely add up to 200 MB. When the size was being calculated, it took a huge jump from 200 MB to 4.3 GB, which I assume means it found one or a few files that added to give the bigger number. It also says the folder contains 54 folders, but there are only files, no folders.

Please help me. I've tried searching for the missing files several times, expanding the search parameters to include system and hidden files. I've run chkdsk to see if there were any errors, but none were reported. I defragged my hard drive, and while it was defragging it said it was moving the file(s) I was looking for, but it doesn't say where they were moved to.

12/01/2018 6:33 - Verify the location. Write it down if necessary. Go to a command prompt and work your way to the place where the file should be located. Do a Dir to see if the file is there. If it is, then do a rename (like ren oldfile.* betteroldfile.*) Sometimes the GUI can't display file names that have strange starting characters, but the command prompt sees them and will permit you to rename it. Then exit out of the command prompt window and verify the folder once more. The file should be there.
