I would think a once a year release is going to put Mandriva a bitbehind the pack let alone a greater releases.

09/11/2018 9:30 - I do not understand a rolling release. If your current install is current, you will get a pop up indicating a new release is ready for install.

You have to have a cooker to test that everything plays well beforeputting code into Production/Official.

A separate release is usually required because of conflicting featuresand/or libraries.

Separate release is also nice so you can have a fallback point if newrelease is incompatible for your hardware/software requirements.

09/11/2018 9:30 - release-dates-and-schedule-td3262753.html#a3262753 Why couldn't they just make it a rolling release? That way they wouldn't have to have cookers and separate releases?

09/11/2018 9:30 - Like PCLinuxOS is a rolling release not having separate releases, but updating through the system itself, i.e. I went from KDE 4.4.5---.4.5.3 just by downloading updates through the package manager.
